The main purpose of the Claisen distillation head is to be used as a distillation gead for reduced pressure distillation,to facilitate the simultaneous installation of capillary tubes and thermometers providing trace gases(centres of vapourisation) and to prevent the liquid from rushing into the condenser tubes due to violent boiling during the process of reduced pressure distillation.
